Founded in November 2024 and based in Riga, Latvia, BalticProxy.eu is a mobile proxy provider running its own Android phone farm on BITE Latvia SIM cards. A team of three sells SOCKS5 and HTTP ports on real 5G mobile IPs to agencies, scrapers, ad buyers and social media teams – people who care less about raw speed and more about whether an IP looks and behaves like a real phone on a real network.

Gologin isn’t a side tool for us. It sits between our system and the customer, and it’s the last thing that touches a proxy before we hand over the login details. The team is in it every day.

1. The Challenges

Before Gologin, we faced quite common, yet no less serious challenges for any proxy provider selling on quality:

  1. Verifying proxies the way customers actually use them – terminal checks only confirm a port replies. They don’t show what a real browser session sees: page load speed, whether the IP shows the correct city, or whether the connection holds under real traffic.
  2. Manual credential setup was slow and error-prone – every new port came as one long credential string that had to be split manually into four fields (host, port, username, password) and the protocol selected from a dropdown.
  3. Resolving support tickets without verifiable proof – when a customer said a proxy felt slow, arguing with internal numbers didn’t help anyone.

If we tested it differently to how the customer uses it, the test wouldn't mean much. Gologin lets us test it exactly the way they will.

2. Previous Solutions

  • We tried various tools and terminal-based checks before switching to Gologin
  • Terminal checks showed ports as working fine – but customers would still complain that things didn’t work
  • Testing proxies differently from how customers use them made the tests meaningless

❓ What Didn’t Work?

  1. Terminal checks don’t reflect real usage. A command-line check only confirms a port replies. It doesn’t show what a browser sees – page load speed, correct geolocation, or connection stability under real traffic.
  2. Manual field entry was a daily drag. Splitting credential strings by hand into four separate fields, every port, every day – slow and easy to mistype.
  3. No proof for support tickets. Without a way to reproduce the customer’s exact experience, resolving disputes was a matter of opinion, not evidence.

3. Looking For New Solution & Choosing Gologin

  • We tested a variety of different systems to check proxies

💡 What made you choose Gologin over alternatives?

  • Automatic proxy parsing. Gologin parses any credential format – ip:port:user:pass, user:pass@ip:port, host-based strings – with a single paste. No manual field entry, no protocol guessing.
  • One-line verification. The Check Proxy result shows country, city, exit IP, protocol and response time in one line. Four things confirmed in five seconds.
  • Same browser our customers use. Testing in a real browser session means our QA matches the customer’s actual experience – not a synthetic check.

✍🏻 Time for some criticism

  • Pasting proxy credentials in the Settings section (same auto-parsing as in Profile settings) would be a useful addition
  • Dark mode on macOS doesn’t trigger automatically when the system switches at sunset – requires a manual click in Settings – Theme – System
  • When a profile closes without internet and reconnects, a “retry sync” option without losing the session would be helpful

4. Implementation & Results

Workflow 1 – Paste, parse, verify: the activation check

This runs 10+ times a day and is the single thing that has saved us the most time. We copy the raw credential string and paste it straight into the profile’s Proxy tab. Gologin splits the fields and detects the protocol automatically. One Ctrl+V, no typing, no guessing. Then we hit Check Proxy:

That one line confirms the port is live, the protocol matches, the location is correct, and the connection opens in normal time. Nothing goes out to a customer until this check passes.

Workflow 2 – Checking response time and editing live ports

For ports already with customers, we go into the profile’s Settings for a detailed view. If a port used to answer in 300ms and now takes 900ms, the phone behind it is struggling – and we want to know before the customer does. Editing one field (password, host, port) without rebuilding the whole profile takes under a minute. This helps us catch performance issues before customers notice them.

Workflow 3 – Real speed tests to settle support tickets

When a customer says a proxy feels slow, we open the Gologin profile on their exact port and run speedtest.net – the tool most buyers use to judge proxies. The screenshot shows carrier, IP, ping and speed at that exact moment, from a clean browser session on their port. We send it straight back in the ticket. It settles disputes faster than any explanation.

Workflow 4 – Checking stability and setting the right expectations

We run packetstats.com inside the profile to watch ping over a couple of minutes. Average 212ms, lowest 144, highest 561, stability marked “Bad.” On a datacenter proxy that would be a problem. On a 5G mobile proxy it’s completely normal – mobile networks share airtime between everyone on the tower.

What we look at is the shape of the line: a steady baseline around 180–220ms with occasional spikes is healthy. A creeping baseline or bunched spikes means a phone needs restarting. We also send this screenshot to new customers upfront with the numbers explained – so they know how to read their results instead of panicking at a red “Bad” label.
