# FAQ: Proxies

### Do I need a proxy to use Gologin?

A proxy is strongly recommended when managing multiple accounts.

While Gologin creates separate browser fingerprints for each profile, websites can still link accounts through the same IP address. Using a different proxy for each profile helps keep sessions isolated.

### Can I use my own proxy provider?

Yes. Gologin supports proxies from any third-party provider.

You can add external proxies manually in the profile settings, import them in bulk, or manage them through the **Proxy Manager**.

### Which proxy type should I use?

For most account management tasks, **residential proxies** are recommended because they are harder for websites to detect.

Other proxy types may also work depending on your use case:

* **Mobile proxies** – high trust, often used for social media platforms
* **Datacenter proxies** – faster but easier for websites to detect

### Can I use one proxy for multiple profiles?

Technically yes, but it is **not recommended**.

Using the same proxy for multiple profiles may increase the risk that websites link those accounts together.

For better isolation, assign a **different proxy to each profile**.

### Why is my proxy not working?

Common reasons include:

* incorrect IP, port, username, or password
* proxy server not responding
* blocked or expired proxy
* insufficient traffic balance

You can verify your proxy connection using the **proxy testing tools** in Gologin.

### Can I use HTTP and SOCKS proxies in Gologin?

Yes. Gologin supports both **HTTP/HTTPS** and **SOCKS5** proxies.

Most proxy providers support these protocols, and Gologin can automatically detect the correct protocol in many cases.

### Does Gologin provide built-in proxies?

Yes. Gologin offers integrated proxies that can be attached directly to browser profiles without external setup.

You can also use third-party proxies if you need more locations or proxy options.

### What does "2 GB residential proxy" mean?

The 2 GB refers to data transfer (traffic), not storage or RAM. It is the amount of data that passes through the proxy while you browse. Regular browsing uses approximately 0.5-1 GB per day per active profile.

### If I use my own proxy, does it consume the included 2 GB GoLogin traffic?

No. The included GoLogin proxy traffic is only consumed when using GoLogin's built-in proxies. Your own third-party proxies use traffic from your proxy provider, not from your GoLogin allowance.

### How much proxy traffic will I need?

Rough estimates per profile per day:

* **Light browsing** (social media, emails): 0.3-0.5 GB
* **Active work** (ads management, content posting): 0.5-1 GB
* **Heavy usage** (video calls, media-heavy sites): 1-3 GB
